That last person is convenient. Next to them, you get to feel like a realist. You can spend years discussing their plans, offering advice, and changing nothing yourself. When they suddenly do what they said they would, the familiar picture gets spoiled. Apparently a conversation doesn't always have to end in another conversation. Very unpleasant information for people who liked the previous arrangement.
