Nobody owes you applause for trying

And decide in advance what will actually count as a result. Otherwise, you can justify any outcome with the process forever. For one project, the result is money. For another, learning. For a third, saying something you've wanted to say for a long time. But then don't retroactively demand a commercial triumph from a learning experience too.
