Nobody owes you applause for trying

I'm talking about expecting to earn someone else's interest through the sheer amount of your own pain. I want to respect my effort enough not to spend it blindly. Look at what came out of it. Fix it. Sometimes throw it away. Sometimes admit: yes, I tried really hard, and it still turned out shit. That's unpleasant. But afterward, there's a chance to do better.
