“I'm not political.” Until they come for you.

I understand wanting a quiet life. Working, minding your own business, loving someone, planning a vacation. I don't want to wake up wondering what some assholes with authority have done this time either. But for some reason, my not wanting to keep an eye on them doesn't make them cease to exist. That's what pisses me off about your favorite line. You say “I'm not political” as though you've signed a separate agreement with the state. You leave it alone, it leaves you alone. All discussed, hands shaken, everyone goes their separate way. Show me the agreement. Especially the clause where it promised to hold up its end.
